003; pokevideo/text

[After switching on, the video flops about in a haphazard, obviously-Pokemon-directed way. As the cameramon struggles to point the Pokegear in the intended direction, the interior of a room at the Goldenrod inn becomes visible. A television is running in the background, but it's turned down and not clearly audible over the noise of the 'Gear being fumbled with.

Finally it settles on its intended target:

A pair of small, snoozing, fuzzy Pokemon! They're taking up the whole top end of the bed, and seem to have gotten turned around since falling asleep...

The camera lingers on them for a while, as the cameramon coos quietly to herself. Oh god they're so cute so adorable aaaah.

The video shuts off.

It turns back onto a scene from about half an hour later. The Shinx is galumphing around the edges of the bed, jumping and tripping over the rumpled-up covers. The Absol is lying on his back in the center of the Shinx's circular path, exchanging swats with the smaller Pokemon. After running a few rounds, the Shinx jumps on the Absol's face, and the two squawk and yowl as they bat playfully at one another, rolling back and forth and then off the bed completely.

The video shuts off again.]

[Later in the day, Ondorus makes a text post, unaware of earlier antics.]

These questions are for anyone who wishes to answer any portion of them.

- In and around Goldenrod, what sights and attractions would you recommend to someone who is unfamiliar with cities?

- Do you bother keeping track of your birthday in Johto? If you do, and if the year of your world is not of the length of a Johto year, how do you measure out when that and other dates from your world occur?

- Where raising young Pokemon is concerned, does anyone have any wisdom to share that isn't often found in the books on the subject?

- To misters Sion and Ryder: the eggs I purchased from you have hatched safely and healthily, in case the parents wish to be informed. Thank you, again.

((ooc: If you want to reply to the first, earlier entry, you'll just get Pokeshenanigans for a while. Ondorus might come back to those replies later in the evening after he's caught on, if there's anything in them that begs responding to.))

[He would keep track of his birthday, but he's not sure when he was created.]

There's a great sushi place in Goldenrod. I wasn't all too familiar with cities when I came here, either, so I pretty much checked out everything. That takes a while, though.

[He spent FOREVER in Goldenrod. And now he's back again!]

For my birthday, I guess I sort of keep track of it. I consider myself sixteen now, and my birthday was in February, but I didn't celebrate or anything. It wasn't too big of a deal, back home.

[Just watch out for the wasabi paste. Hiccup almost died.]

Definitely the biggest I've ever seen. Places like Ecruteak and Mahogany are smaller. I like them.

[He still wasn't quite used to buildings so tall...]

Does your world's length differ from this world's as well? You've piqued my curiosity, as my world has longer years.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

There's certainly plenty to do in Goldenrod. I rather doubt you'll find yourself bored. While I'm not particularly fond of shopping under normal circumstances, I'd say that the Goldenrod Department store is worth a look, as they have plenty of things there that I haven't seen anywhere else.

As far as the second question goes, I happened to arrive on the exact date of my birthday, much to my displeasure. However, aside from the time discrepancies, this world's calendar is roughly the same as my own. Which is convenient, I suppose; I remember hearing about another person's issues with adjusting to this particular calendar. How does yours run, exactly?

I think you'd really like Ecruteak, then. It's even called "The Historical City". They have a building called the Burned Tower that caught fire years and years ago, but it's still there. They haven't even really fixed it up.
newberktown: (are you okay back there)

I don't think so? I only went it a little ways, but there was a giant hole in the floor and everything groaned. I was going to explore it some more, but I ended up getting sick.

Are you happy here, then?

[Oh look, there's an Absol pawing at his own trainer's 'gear and turning on the video. Mostly just watching, for the moment, but.]

...My, that's even shorter than this world's. I'm rather stunned at the quick rotation.]

1) goldenrod's fun if you like big city life, so there ain't much to sight see or something there; the game corner's cool if you're looking for a place to spend money at. speaking of which, the department store has tons of things to see/buy, so it's worth checking out. there are lots of cafes, cinemas, shops... depends on what you're into! north from the city is national park, which is nice to visit in good weather

2) actually I only really started keeping track of it after coming here. the year's as long in johto as back home though

3) dunno anything in particular you wanna know?
dreamsofahero: ([about more than just catching them all])

yep!

*oh look, there's a second Absol joining the first, looking curiously over his shoulder at the images on the 'gear*

[This time with names attached, apparently.]

With regards to the young Pokémon, apparently allowing them to wail for any length of time isn't recommended. Some of them also require you to raise their happiness before they evolve. I've found that some of them tend to rather like music; I've gotten two evolutions that way, actually.

...as for my date of birth, the years here run the same as they do back in London, to my knowledge. I keep track of it, though I don't celebrate it. Not since I was a child.
tearsofademon: (* I who look upon you without fear)

[Video] Yup :)

[Jehra settles down in his spot on the bed and just watches contently. The Natu doesn't faze him in the least - Ryner raised one as well, after all. But it's only when the young Absol is on the screen again that he shows signs of contentment.

Just checking in to make sure that his son is doing well.]

I don't rely on Johto's music as much as I create my own. Usually compositions and whatnot that I remember from my world; a few things I've heard many times from others from different worlds and written down. Music theory is something I'm good at; I play a few instruments here and there. Perhaps I'll show you sometime, should you ever be interested.

This world seems rather unlike my own in most ways, outside of the way time passes; needless to say, we don't have sentient metal where I'm from, nor do we have sentient plant life.

[...what.]

I'm aware that some individuals here aren't human, wherever they come from; forgive my curiosity, but is that true in your case as well?

[Given the difference in year length, the sentient...everything and the fact that Descole is from an alternate 1970s and this is therefore a logical conclusion...clearly, aliens are involved here.]
