ondorus has a few people he's talked to multiple times but not many actual friendships huh

Good morning.

[A short pause before Ondorus launches into what he's planned to say.]

The places we hail from have profound effects on us. Whether it's the place we were born and raised or - if the two are separate - the place that's taken us in, our homeland provides the perspective we carry with us into the rest of our lives. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion, for good or ill.

...in my experience, anyways.

I imagine there's a fair number among us who miss the worlds we come from. Perhaps it's incorrect of me to make such an assumption, but...well, there's where perspective comes into it. [soft chuckle] So let's talk about the places we know and treasure. What kind of place are you from? And how does Johto compare, with its cities and roads and Pokemon? What is your perspective?

It'd be rude of me to ask without saying anything of my own home, of course. [Another short pause, while he clears his throat off-feed.]

That is my home, in all its glories and hazards. It's sad to think that I will not be able to share it with the Pokemon that I have met here.

[edit: WOW GO ME I FORGOT THE ACTION PART uh ondorus can be found around and about the goldenrod breeding center, as usual. reading books, talking to his xatu, sitting out by the pool talking to his lapras, teaching his shiny audino the letters of the alphabet, that kind of stuff. his munna is creeperin' as usual, and the aforementioned shiny audino is a busybody who will go around checking up on anyone who isn't behind a latched door, hugging people's legs and giving them odd things he finds around the house. affectionate baby.]

[Today's broadcast comes from the interior of the Goldenrod Breeding Center House, where Ondorus has settled himself down in the living room. The fire is crackling warmly in the hearth, and a Luxray is rolling slowly on the ground in front of it, soaking up the heat from all angles like a giant kitty rotisserie.

'Tis the season.]

Winter is the cold month of the year. It belongs to the blue spirit and the element of water, and it masters rare minerals and hardy plants. It favors mountains and highlands, and shies away from the tropics and other places ruled by summer.

It also seems to be a time for camaraderie and goodwill, in Johto and elsewhere. A time of harsh conditions, reminding us how we depend on and are depended upon by our fellow creatures - to share what we have, and reconnect with our community.

[...he sounds (and sort of looks) a little sniffly. Three guesses who spent too much time out in the snow this week?]

I have two things to ask. First, there are a number of Pokemon in the Goldenrod Foster Home at this time; Pokemon whose trainers have departed from Johto, leaving them here with the hope that another trainer will step up to take care of them. I encourage anyone who has the resources to care for another Pokemon to investigate the Foster Home, especially in this season of charity.

And the second. If you leave with me a name and location to deliver to and some description of your likes and dislikes where food is concerned, I'll send a small Christmas gift. You may respond privately, of course, and the gift comes entirely free of obligations.

[The video ends, but the post isn't over - added on to the end is a text portion with simplified and travel-friendly versions of these recipes.]

[The video starts very abruptly, with a screeching, enraged Sandslash yell.

The camera waves around wildly, and the murmur of a television can be heard behind a loud clattering noise as the Gear is thrown around. It finally comes to a halt, pinned against the ground with a Sandslash glaring down into it, hissing.

The video is coming from the inside of an inn room, and if you listen closer, it's obvious that the television in the background is turned to the Vermilion tournament. A Munna floats overhead, squeaking worriedly, but a louder hiss from the Sandslash makes her flee into an offscreen corner of the room.

To most humans, of course, the rest will sound like a whole lot of Pokemon screaming, but for those who can understand:]

What the hell, what the hell, what the hell?! What gives?? What's up with that, huh?! [She sputters incoherently, jabbing a claw in the direction of the television, then waving the outstretched claw around and slamming it back onto the ground by the camera.] Why do they get to be up there? I want to go there! I'll fight! I'll rip them apart!

[The Gear goes flying again as she thrashes once more in rage, swatting it against a wall.] Stupid, stupid trainer! Wild things are no fun! If I don't get to fight I'll just sit and rot! [More incoherent yelling, then she turns back to the Gear, quickly changing tacks and addressing all the Pokemon out there.] Stupid! I know you're all out there! Don't get cocky! I'll trash this trainer and then you'll all go down!!

[There's a snarl from offscreen, and a Luxio slams into the Sandslash, bowling her over with his own indignant yells ("You're the stupid one!"). The rest of the video is a few seconds of several Pokemon crying in alarm while the two fight noisily, before a Xatu seizes up the Gear, runs to a quieter corner of the room, and shuts it off to prevent further embarrassment.]


[[ooc: Ondorus is not involved in this post at all, and replies will come from various members of his team depending on when people respond. If anyone wants to contact him about this afterwards, they'll have to ping him directly via appointments.]]

[After switching on, the video flops about in a haphazard, obviously-Pokemon-directed way. As the cameramon struggles to point the Pokegear in the intended direction, the interior of a room at the Goldenrod inn becomes visible. A television is running in the background, but it's turned down and not clearly audible over the noise of the 'Gear being fumbled with.

Finally it settles on its intended target:

A pair of small, snoozing, fuzzy Pokemon! They're taking up the whole top end of the bed, and seem to have gotten turned around since falling asleep...

The camera lingers on them for a while, as the cameramon coos quietly to herself. Oh god they're so cute so adorable aaaah.

The video shuts off.

It turns back onto a scene from about half an hour later. The Shinx is galumphing around the edges of the bed, jumping and tripping over the rumpled-up covers. The Absol is lying on his back in the center of the Shinx's circular path, exchanging swats with the smaller Pokemon. After running a few rounds, the Shinx jumps on the Absol's face, and the two squawk and yowl as they bat playfully at one another, rolling back and forth and then off the bed completely.

The video shuts off again.]



[Later in the day, Ondorus makes a text post, unaware of earlier antics.]

These questions are for anyone who wishes to answer any portion of them.

- In and around Goldenrod, what sights and attractions would you recommend to someone who is unfamiliar with cities?

- Do you bother keeping track of your birthday in Johto? If you do, and if the year of your world is not of the length of a Johto year, how do you measure out when that and other dates from your world occur?

- Where raising young Pokemon is concerned, does anyone have any wisdom to share that isn't often found in the books on the subject?

- To misters Sion and Ryder: the eggs I purchased from you have hatched safely and healthily, in case the parents wish to be informed. Thank you, again.

((ooc: If you want to reply to the first, earlier entry, you'll just get Pokeshenanigans for a while. Ondorus might come back to those replies later in the evening after he's caught on, if there's anything in them that begs responding to.))

[The screen is at first obscured by something that moves away with a raspy chirp, leaving a bespectacled man to glance away from the screen for a moment before turning his attention to it. He seems worried but composed, letting his hand fall from where he'd been rubbing a knuckle absently against his forehead.]

Good...afternoon. [pause, then a sigh.] And a strange one. I don't know who is or how many are listening, but I hope my situation isn't common among you.

[More of that chirping, and Ondorus looks to his side as a green blob of feathers flutters its way up to his shoulder and shuffles around there for a moment, cooing. He smiles wordlessly for a moment and then looks back at the Pokégear.]

She offers her greetings, too. Anyhow - is there anyone listening to whom Sol Terrano means anything? Or, at least, Norad? Or...[His smile falls a little, and he breathes in as he thinks how to word this]...any for whom being a human comes as a bit of a shock?

-or knows of the Forest of Beginnings. [It comes out more rushed than the rest of what he's said, as though the thought came to him suddenly. The Natu on Ondorus' shoulder taps her foot firmly against him, and he nods a little.] Nobody here seemed to respond to any inquiry.

[He glances down (fiddles with something-) and back up.] I hope I'm using this correctly. [A tired smile.] Apparently there's a town of some size that I should get started on reaching. Thank you for your time - and I hope to make acquaintances with some of you.

[Ondorus bows his head politely, then the Pokegear tilts back so that it is receiving a shot of the sky. Offscreen, his voice can be heard - how do I shut this off, now? - along with some chirping from the Natu, and after a few seconds the entry ends.]
